My advice: Be prepared for pressure from the sales team to buy. Ignore that, TAKE YOUR TIME, and choose the right car for you. Don't stress about sales that might go away or limited time offers. Try to rent the car you want to buy for a week or two before you buy.
You will notice my review still shows 3 stars. That is because I am 100% certain that if I didn't get on the internet and write some bad reviews, I would not be in the position I am in now. And I just think it was bad business on the part of Toyota World to let it get this far. But in the end, I appreciate that they responded to my negative reviews and wanted to make this right, even if it was selfishly motivated. And I am very glad that World Auto Group was watching.
Worst experience ever. I purchased a used vehicle with four bald tires that cost me an additional $750 AND the car was never washed or prepped at delivery. It had bird poop on the hood, the seats were dirty which i recall at the time i first saw it. I paid close to $30k for this vehicle! Also, BEWARE of their $895 prep fee and $495 Documentation fee. I paid too much with these fees and after trying to express my displeasure with someone who handles customer complaints they told me there was nothing that could be done. This dealer gives other dealers the bad reputation that consumers are afraid of.
If you go to Toyota World, ask for Chris DePena, who I believe is a good salesman and an honest guy. But know that if you have a problem, it will be out of his hands and you will be at the mercy of Toyota World management, which may or may not be a good thing.
My only goal was to find a positive outcome and get into a car that was the right car for me, and not the one I was pressured into buying with deceptive sales techniques.
(See update below) I've never experienced a group of folks so deceptive. Not only did my salesman, Brandon, lie when he told me my mileage in my new car would outperform my 10 year old trade-in, when I tried to work with them to find another solution, all I got was "No" from Jean the customer service manager, and from Marc Fusco the General Manager (who never made himself available).
Now I am forced to lodge complaints with the NJ AG office and Ocean County Consumer protection and contact lawyers. WHY??!!
That allowed us to go back to the drawing board. We chose the 2018 Camry Hybrid instead and I COULDN'T BE HAPPIER. During the lease signing, Marc Fusco was willing to cover some costs that were unexpected, which I really appreciated. They also honored the original price quoted for a remote starter that gave it to me for their cost.

Wouldn't think of taking my vehicle anywhere else. Knowledgable, friendly, clean and fair. Bill, the service manager, is a fine gentleman that cares about the customers and Steve and Angel are two of my favorite representatives, but there are several and you're sure to find someone that will assist you best. Thanks for taking great care of me and more importantly of my Tundra!
Lakewood Toyota is the only place I will ever go to purchase my vehicles. Dealing with Mark Fusco every time is such a pleasure. He's the best and and makes purchasing our cars or trucks stress free every time.
LEMON-WOOD TOYOTA................................... It is important to warn you about this dealership. Ill try to keep it short and to the point. I bought a new 2017 Camry from Lakewood Toyota and in under 9,000 miles the transmission has broken down and needed to be replaced twice. I bought his car brand new in July and this will be the 3rd transmission put into it, think about that for a second. A month after the first failure I had warning lights appear and I brought it in for a complete diagnostic check up. Lakewood Toyota once again assured me it was safe. The second time the transmission failed I was going down the NJ Turnpike and it almost resulted in a serious accident, and now these guys are having a “safety first” sales event, what a joke! My salesmen Jim O'Brien and the Managers there have responded to this with arrogance and indifference. The service department has been extremely helpful but I know what they are thinking but cannot say, this car is an obvious lemon. I don't trust it with my family riding in it and I never will. I’m going to try to appeal to Toyota, hopefully they will do the right thing..
Just do something to make it right. But they won't. Which is why YOU shouldn't buy a car here.
Several days after writing the above review, I received a call from Jean, the customer service manager. She was now willing to help me lease the vehicle, something they were unwilling to do when I came in person to try to find a solution. While we were negotiating a price, I was contacted by someone in the World Auto Group (I think they are essentially the parent company to Toyota World of Lakewood?). The gentleman that reached out to me was FANTASTIC. He seemed to understand my intentions were not to harm the dealership by off-loading a car they would lose tons of money on, but to get into a car that performed as expected. During our conversations, he even offered the option for me to lease another vehicle.
